In World War I, there were 120 men who received the Medal of Honor, the highest award for bravery in the United States military. Each of those men met the criteria for receiving the award by going “above and beyond the call of dutyâ€. Some of those men even gave the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives in order to save others. Some of those heroic deeds were over in an instant, while others were stretched out over many hours or even days. This book is a collection of stories that are representative of the kind of heroism exhibited by some of these extraordinary men. Each story includes the actual citation for the award followed by a dramatization of the events that led to the issuing of the award. In each of these dramatizations, the dialog between the recipient and any other characters is purely fictional. The thoughts and words attributed to each character in this book are purely fictional and are intended to provide a more complete story. In spite of that, the actual events are real, and where possible, the author has attempted to supplement the details from the citations with additional information. If that was not possible, then the author may have taken certain liberties with some of the supporting details in attempting to complete the story.
“Heroes Over There” is currently available in the Kindle e-book format at Amazon, and also available in trade paperback format.
