THE TEARS UPON MY FACE

If you could see the smile
I wear upon my face
And how it looks so sad
And seems so out of place.
You see, the lonely tears
Have made my smile a lie,
And ever since you’ve gone,
All I have done is cry.

But if you could look into my eyes
Then perhaps you would understand.
Without you, I’m so lost inside.
I still need you to hold my hand.

And baby if you could see
The tears upon my face,
And how they look so commonplace.
The tears upon my face.
I’m wishing that you could see
The smile upon my face,
And how it looks so out of place
With these tears upon my face.

It always seems that you
Expect so much of me,
And yet you never show
Me any courtesy.
I’ve always tried so hard,
But I am just a man.
I can’t fulfill your dreams,
Perhaps nobody can.
