ALL A TRUE LOVE SHOULD BE

When I needed someone to hold,
She was asleep there beside me
To give me hope and lift me up.
She was all a true love should be.

She tried so hard to make me smile
Whenever times got hard for me.
She always tried to understand.
She was all a true love should be.

I still remember her sweet smile,
And how she gave her love to me.
I know I’ll always miss her touch.
She was all a true love should be.

The saddest thing she ever did
Was when she gave her heart to me,
Because, you see, I broke her heart.
I’m less than a true love should be.
