The miles could never hope
To separate us so surely
As this hopeless void between us now.
This vast, endless distance
Which has come between us
And the love we once shared.
It is an immeasurable distance
Which inches, feet, yards, or miles
Could never hope to describe.
If only we had foreseen
The coming of this great rift,
Perhaps we could have forestalled it,
But now, my love, I fear that we
Could never hope to overcome
The distance of time.
