HESITATION

As you’re sitting there and watching me smile,
I long to reach out and take your hand in mine,
But feelings of doubt have been holding me back.
Instead I just sit here and finish my wine.

I wish I could know what you’re feeling inside.
Are you hoping that I would reach out for you?
If I could be sure I would not hesitate.
I look in your eyes but they give me no clue.

My heart’s on my sleeve and my love’s up for grabs,
But try as I may, I just can’t make you see.
I long to just hold you and feel your heartbeat,
But nothing I do seems to draw you to me.
