EVERY TIME YOU SMILE

I turned and saw you standing there,
And as you smiled, I fell apart.
I choked the tears back in my throat
And fought the pain within my heart.

I rushed to say hello to you
And saw the glistening in your eyes.
It happens every time you smile;
My heart just melts. It’s no surprise.

I’ve told myself and all my friends
That I had gotten over you,
But those who saw the tears I cried
Would surely know that it’s not true.
