With great anticipation
I look forward to the time
When we will meet again.
Then, when that time arrives,
I wonder, will I speak to you?
Of course, I’m sure I will,
But what words will I say,
And how will they sound to you
Once they are spoken?
There are so many questions
I would like to ask, so many
Things I would care to know.
I’ve rehearsed them in my mind,
So sure of each word, each phrase,
But I feel that once I try
To speak them, face to face,
I’ll simply trip on those words
And show you the fool
Who dwells within my heart.
But for now, I’ll just wait
And hope that in time, and soon,
I will find the confidence I need.
As I wait, you should know,
I look forward to the time
When we will meet again.
