I was so glad to be with you
Out there on the dance floor,
Just watching you beside me there.
I couldn’t ask for more.
Your hair and eyes were soft and brown,
Your face peaches and cream.
I’ve never seen such loveliness,
I thought you were a dream.
I knew that when the night ended
We’d have to say goodbye.
There’s so much I wanted to say.
I didn’t even try.
A friend of yours told me your name,
But still you never knew
Just who I was or just how much
I wanted to meet you.
Perhaps somewhere, as time goes by,
Our paths will cross again.
Then we can share another night,
The way it should have been.
