EASIER TO STAY

She always tries so hard to make him smile,
And yet it seems to last for just a while.
Before too long she’s all alone, and then
She cries herself to sleep again.

She does her best to satisfy his needs,
And each desire of his she quickly heeds,
And yet there’s nothing that she wants as much
As just a single loving touch.

To her, he’s been the focus of her life,
Although she knows she’ll never be his wife.
Perhaps in time she’ll learn to walk away.
For now, it’s easier to stay.
