HOUSTON SKYLINE

I’m driving in the darkness just
To take the time to see the city lights.
Then stopping on the channel bridge
To see the distant skyline in the night.
And though I’ve travelled far and wide,
There’s no place makes me feel the way you do,
And I could never stay away from here
Because Houston, I love you.

That Houston city skyline
Sends shivers down my spine.
When people talk about their homes,
I’m proud to say your mine.
That Houston city skyline,
The best that’s ever been.
Tomorrow I’ll be here at night
To see that skyline once again.

My first and only child was born
Just down the road from here in ’88,
And though my wife left both of us,
I can’t help feeling that my life is great.
In time I’ll find another who
Appreciates this town the way I do,
But until then my daughter and I want
To say Houston, we love you.
