YOU CAN HAVE HER

Although I held her in my arms so tight,
I could never quite convince myself
Her love for me was true,
And though I tried hard to keep her safe at night,
I could never love her half as much
As she was loving you.

So you can have her, if you want her,
Because I could never find a way
To make that girl want me.
Yes, you can have her, if you can hold her,
And take the time to show her what
True love’s supposed to be.

I tried to show her that my love was real,
But she could never see beyond
The love she felt for you,
And I could not wait for her to share the love I feel
So I decided there was nothing
More that I could do.
