HERE WITHIN MY ARMS

I awake from a deep,
Peaceful sleep
To find you here within my arms.
I smile at the sight
Of your face on my arm.
Your hair falls across the pillow
In reckless disarray, so lovely.
I lie there watching, smiling,
Intoxicated by your presence.
You begin to stir, then awaken
To discover me staring at you.
Embarrassed, you turn away,
Then you turn back and smile.
Your arms go about me
As our lips come together.
The passion I feel for you
Is almost overwhelming,
Yet my love and respect
Help keep it in check.
The sun shines through the window,
But I am unaware,
For my world begins and ends
With you here within my arms.
