THE FIRST TIME

The first time I saw you, I liked you,
And I thought that we could be friends.
Then when you smiled at me,
It was easy to see
That you maybe felt that way too.

The first time I held you so tightly
That night as we danced on the floor,
I felt I was entranced
Every time that we danced,
But that made me want you much more.

Then the first time someone gave me chills,
It was you, with your touch. What a thrill!
You’re the first in my heart
Even when we’re apart.
You’re the first time I’ve really known love.

The first time you told me you loved me,
I already knew in my heart.
We’ve become just as one,
But we’ve only begun
To find out how strong love can be.
