MOTHER

You nurtured me when I was young,
Taught me to read and have some fun.
Then by example, taught me right from wrong.
You cared for me when I was ill
And never tried to bend my will.
Your faith in me has helped to make me strong.

Though there were times when I was rude
And tried to cop an attitude,
With patience you would wait ’til I was calm.
Then with a broken heart you’d say
That you still loved me anyway.
No one could ever touch me like that, Mom.

Mother is such a lovely word,
The loveliest I’ve ever heard.
Especially when it’s meant for one like you.
You’ve always been there by my side
To wipe away the tears I’ve cried.
You’re always in my heart in all I do.

You told me not to raise my voice
And gave to me freedom of choice
To make all my decisions on my own.
Although at times I’ve made mistakes,
You’ve picked me up when my heart breaks.
Mom, you’re the greatest woman I have known.
