When it came to sharing love,
We both played the game and lost.
I wonder if we would have started
If we had only known the cost.
We took a chance and bet it all,
Then we both lost our hearts.
I guess that’s how the romance ended,
Now we must live our lives apart.
We can see that it’s all over
As far as we’re concerned.
We’ll have to put our past behind us
Because our bridges have been burned.
We’ll write it off and tell ourselves
Here’s another lesson learned.
We tried so hard to make it work,
And then we both gave up somehow.
Guess we were through before we started,
It seems that we’re both lonely now.
Maybe we could start all over,
But is it really worth the pain?
Perhaps it’s better that it’s ended
And only memories remain.
