THE BEST OF YOU

You’re all alone there in the darkness,
Another victim of the night.
He took your heart and left you crying,
And then he disappeared from sight.

You tell yourself you never loved him anyway,
And yet you know that’s just a lie.
It breaks your heart to know you couldn’t make him stay.
So now you sit alone and cry.

I don’t know just who you’re running from.
I don’t know where you’re running to.
Stay out of shadows, then when evening comes,
Don’t let the darkness get the best of you.
The best of you.

As darkness fades away behind you,
The morning brings another day.
Don’t bother hiding in the shadows,
The light will find you anyway.

You try to tell yourself you’ll never love again,
And yet, I don’t believe that’s true.
Someday somebody else will come along and then
You’ll find that he’s in love with you.

I don’t know just who you’re running from.
I don’t know where you’re running to.
Believe me, girl, the best is yet to come.
Someday you’ll give someone the best of you.
The best of you.
