Mama always told me , “Take pride in what you do.
Then someday folks will recognize the talent within you.
Always take great pride in what you do and what you feel,
‘Cause if you don’t, there’s no one else who will.â€
Mama always told me right from the very start
That she believed in what I had to say.
She said, “You’ve got a talent, boy, for touching people’s hearts.
I feel it in the music that you play.
My son, you’re going to be a star someday.â€
I have always listened to the words my mama said.
Her words of inspiration are always in my head.
She said, “Someday you’ll find someone who’ll be in love with you,
And now I’ve finally found that love so true.
Mama, she’s been telling me right from the very start
That she believes in what I have to say.
She says I’ve got a talent for touching people’s hearts.
She feels it in the music that I play.
She says I’m going to be a star someday.
