ALWAYS BE AN OKIE

I’ve heard people talking about the places they come from,
And start talking loud about their heritage,
But the place that I call home is where the buffalo still roam
And you can even find some Indian villages.
You can say all that you want about the wonders of your state
And try to tell me that’s the place I should be,
But no matter what you say, I know deep inside my heart
That Oklahoma is the only home for me.

Now my heart will always be in Oklahoma,
Even when I travel far and wide,
And no matter where I go, it’s so comforting to know
That I’ll always be an Okie deep inside.

There’s no Okies heading out for California anymore.
They’re all staying put to raise their families,
Because they know there’s no place better in this good old USA,
And if you get a chance to visit, you’ll agree.
Next time you take a trip, just come on out to Oklahoma
And take some time to go from town to town.
No matter where you go, I’ll bet you find a friendly face
And you’ll start feeling like you ought to settle down.
