IN THE COUNTRY

As I sit and watch cattle grazing,
It strikes me as pretty amazing.
There’s serenity here, there has been for years.
It’s such a remarkable place.
It’s time we forget the rat race.

Yes, I think I will form a committee
And move that we all leave the city,
Head on back to the farm, and lay down our arms,
We’ve lost the battle anyway.
In the country is where I want to stay.

I sit and watch children playing
Without wondering what the neighbors are saying.
I’m surrounded by peace, and my mind is at ease.
I find there’s a smile on my face.
It’s time we forget the rat race.

I’ve taken vacations before.
Once I move here, I won’t need anymore.
I’ll be happy right here with my family near
To help share this wide open space.
It’s time we forget the rat race.

You can keep all your high rise skyscrapers
And read about crime in the papers.
They won’t interest me none, ‘cause I’ll be having fun
Living life at a much slower pace.
We should all just forget the rat race.
