YOUNG ONE

Young one, do you remember me?
I left you standing here long ago.
I know it was so cruel of me,
But please don’t ask me why I had to go.

I guess that I just had to leave,
Although to this day, I don’t know why.
I know I left you lonely, with grief.
They told me that’s how you died.

I know that I made you cry
When I told you goodbye.
Young one, I left you all alone
Now I’m sad, because you are gone.

Young one, your time on earth has passed,
And you’re someone I’ll always miss.
I know that our love couldn’t last,
And yet I’ll always long for your kiss.

Young one, now the tables are turned.
Now I’ve cried. My lesson I’ve learned.
Young one, there’s no need to pretend
For I know this is really the end
For such a young one.
