I’m leaving Oklahoma when
The morning shines on me.
I’m going to Virginia, for
There’s someone I must see.
Although I’ll have to leave my friends
And family behind,
I’m sure that they’ll all understand,
And probably won’t mind.
I’m going to Virginia with
The early morning’s light.
I’ve been without her much too long,
And it’s just not quite right.
While driving to Virginia, I’ll
Be smiling all the way.
I never should have left before,
But this time I will stay.
