We both had claimed to love you but
You couldn’t have us both.
It hurt me when you said that it
Was he you would betroth.
I wished the two of you the best
Of happiness in life,
But I just couldn’t stay to see
You vow to be his wife.
Two years went by and I could not
Forget you, though I tried,
So I came back to visit, but
I found that you had died.
I visited the graveyard and
Your husband was there, too.
His teardrops made me realize
Just how much he loved you.
He placed his flowers on your grave,
Then wiped his tears away.
Right then I felt so out of place.
I saw no need to stay.
I wished that I could help him by
Erasing all his pain,
For I know neither one of us
Will ever love again.
