For so long now I’ve been trying to find someone
Who will come and share their gentle love with me,
But no matter where I look, it seems there’s no one
Who will come and give me all the love I need.
I’ve been trying hard to find myself a lover
Who’ll gently run her fingers through my hair.
I need someone to hold me in the nighttime,
And to know that when the day breaks, she’ll be there.
Is there anyone who needs someone like I do,
And needs to feel a lover in the night?
As there anyone who hurts inside like I do,
And needs to feel somebody hold them tight?
Even though the world is full of many people,
And although I’ve tried so hard to find just one
Who is willing to provide the love I long for,
I’m unable to find love from anyone.
Maybe someday soon I’ll find somebody special
Who can give their love to no one else but me,
But until that day, I’ll have to keep on searching
For the tender love I need to set me free.
