FOR NOW

Even after all the time that’s come
Between us and what we once had,
I still find the same old feelings
That I knew so long ago.
When I first saw you
And you said hello,
I got a tingle through my soul
Recalling memories of you and me.
I know full well that you don’t share
These feelings I have for you,
But I just can’t stop the longing
That I’ve known for so long now.
I’ve searched for someone
To make me laugh and smile
The way you always do,
Bur there’s no one who could
Ever compare to you.
Perhaps someday I’ll take the time
To tell you how I feel inside,
But for now I guess I’ll be happy
Just to have you for a friend.
