Lying here beside you as
The storm begins to break,
I see the lightning flashing,
Dancing shadows across the room.
I look into your eyes
And imagine I see a smile
Of doubt upon your lips.
I want to reach out
And try to comfort you,
But I’m afraid of being
Awkward in my approach.
Sure there must be some way
For me to help you relax
And place your trust in me.
There are so many things
I long to show you,
To share with only you,
Yet the time seems so wrong.
For now, I’ll simply try
To comfort you tonight
As the storm breaks outside.
