IF YOU'D LOVE ME AGAIN

Last night I went down to see
Some old friends at the bar.
Some of them I’ve known for years
And others for just a short while.
I asked if they had seen you
And they told me yes,
That you’d be there tonight.
So I just decided to wait for a while
To see if you’d love me again.

I only wanted to see
If you’d love me again.
I told myself I would cry
If you left me again.
Memories of all the good times we had
And some of the bad times we knew
Were bothering me as I waited alone
To see if you’d love me again.

I sat there waiting until
I saw you at the door.
I wasn’t sure what you’d say
As I got up, and walked across the floor.
I asked if you’d like to dance,
And you told me yes,
That’s what you came for,
And I somehow knew that if we had the chance
That darling, you’d love me again.
