That summer’s night of passion and
Of total all-consuming love
Resulted in a miracle
Conceived in heaven high above.
When she discovers there will be
A new source of love in her life,
She tells him of her happiness,
And hopes that soon she’ll be his wife.
Because he’s young he is afraid
To take responsibility
And so he tells her that her dreams
Will not become reality.
Her parents do not understand
How this could happen to their child.
They mourn her loss of innocence
And fear that now she’ll just be wild.
She finds no love from anyone,
Only rejection everywhere.
Afraid because she feels no shame,
Her life is now filled with despair.
It seems that no one understands
The love she feels within her now.
They claim she should give up the child,
And yet she wants it anyhow.
Although she longs to raise her child,
She has to face reality.
Adoption truly seems to be
Her only possibility.
She goes into the hospital
To give birth, alone and afraid.
She never sees her newborn girl.
Her final decision’s been made.
She sits in her hospital room
And feels a sudden emptiness.
She cries out all her frustrations
And prays her child finds happiness.
Her future seems uncertain now.
She thinks of how her past has been
And prays that someone understands
Her longing to find love again.
