YOU NEVER SEEM TO NOTICE

I know that loving you has never
Really been easy, because I feel
As if you don’t need me in your life.
Perhaps you do from time to time,
But I’m sure you would never admit it.
I feel so inadequate whenever
I’m with you, because everything I do
To make you happy seems useless,
And you never seem to notice
The trouble I’m going through
Just to make your life easier.
I’m afraid to say I love you
Because you’ve told me before
That you’re not ready yet for love.
So instead I walk beside you
And share life with you as a friend,
While my heart longs to tell you
Of the love I feel within for you.
I’ve often thought that I wouldn’t
Have to tell you of my love,
And that my actions alone would
Somehow show you how I feel,
But you never seem to notice.
