FORBIDDEN LOVE

As dark as midnight on
An empty, moonless night,
Yet warm as coal
In a burning pit.
Some strange magnetism
Pulls you closer to her.
Forbidden thoughts of love
Creep steadily into your
Passion-inflamed mind.
You long to hold her
And allow your desires
To roam freely, unhindered
By the ethnic morals
Of an unjust society.
Yet fear and prejudice
Combine to stop you
From attempting to share
A fulfilling experience
With a woman whose skin
Is different from yours.
