THESE TEARS

When I saw you holding him
As you danced across the floor,
I began to get that feeling
Of loneliness once more.
I saw you smiling warmly
As you looked into his eyes,
And I laughed at that old saying
That a grown man never cries.

Because I felt those lonely teardrops
Start to rolling down my cheek,
And the lump that I found in my throat
Made it hard for me to speak.
I thought that I was over you,
But it seems that I was wrong,
So I hope these tears I’m crying now
Won’t bother me for long.

I felt the pain inside
Cutting through me like a knife.
It hurt the way it did that night
When you walked out of my life.
You told me I would have to think
Of you as just a friend,
So I’m praying I’ll get over you
So these tears of mine can end.
