PERFECT STRANGERS

When she married, she truly loved him
And really wanted to be his wife,
But he would stay at work all day
And many nights he spends away,
And a wife who stays alone
Won’t stay for long.
She would wait there, feeling lonely
And wanting badly to hold him close,
But he would never be close by
So at night she often cried
Until one night she went to find
A perfect love.

Perfect strangers make perfect lovers
When your hopes and dreams
Have passed you by.
Perfect lovers in the darkness
Are perfect strangers
In the morning light.

She went down to the local barroom
And met a stranger who asked to dance.
The music played so soft and low
And together they danced slowly,
Then he asked her to his place
Just for the night.
As he lay there, asleep and dreaming,
She lay there thinking about her life.
Her husband came into her thoughts
And then she thought of how they fought
And then she knew her life with him
Was just a dream.
