LONELY WIFE

He goes to work each morning and
He leaves her there alone.
She longs for company and so
She dials the telephone.

Her voice sounds quite uncertain as
She tries to make a date
With someone that she used to know,
Who once made her feel great.

She tells him she is married but
He swears he’ll be discreet.
He says he’d love to see her and
Suggests a place to meet.

She starts to feel uncomfortable
Until she sees his face.
She joins him for some lunch and then
They go back to his place.

She thanks him for the afternoon
And tells him she must leave.
She starts to think that what she’s done
Is too much to believe.

She fixes dinner then she waits
‘Till her husband comes in,
And knows that when tomorrow comes
She’ll do it all again.
