RADIO LOVE AFFAIR

She sat there crying
At home by herself,
Listening to the radio
That sat on the shelf.
She looked at her watch and
Thought the day had been long
As she heard the DJ
Play another sad song.

She cried as she called him
To make a request.
He said “Don’t you worry
Now, I’ll do my best.”
And then as she hung up
She heard the man say
This one’s for the lady
Who is lonely today.

She called him to thank him
For what he had done.
He said “That’s all right,
For I’ve only begun.
I’m sorry you’re sad but,
Please give me a chance.
I’d sure like to meet you
And have just one dance.

She went to meet him that evening
At some local bar,
And she knew by morning
That they’d gone too far.
As she lay there thinking,
He said “I love you.”
Then she smiled as she held him
And said she loved him too.

Now they share a radio love affair.
He tells her loves her
As he goes on the air.
He plays her a love song
And says “This one’s for you.
It’s just my way of saying
You’ll never be blue.”
