As we sat there talking quietly
In the dimly lit room,
I began to feel a warm glow
Within my inner being.
I felt so relaxed with you,
As if I need never fear
The complex problems of life,
For you could easily help me
Confront them and overcome them.
I felt as if I could open my soul
And express all my thoughts
So that you might offer
Your opinions and ideas
Without being critical or rude.
Although I hardly know you,
I feel as if I can trust you
And discuss with you freely
My ideas, my goals, my ambitions.
I anxiously look forward to
The next time we should meet
And simply talk and discuss
The problems and joys of life
As we relax in each other’s presence.
