The seagulls scream noisily
As they circle above, searching
The shoreline for traces of food.
You smile and point at them
As we walk along the empty beach
Hand in hand, staring at the ocean
As it rushes over the sand to our feet.
The sun grows dim and red
In the distance, and the clouds
Melt and blend into a sunset
So beautiful and stunning.
The wind blows freely, aimlessly
Floating along the beach with the waves
And tosses your hair about your face.
We laugh as we wade through the water
Up to our knees at the edge of the ocean.
The sun begins to fade and disappear,
But I know the memory of this day
Will last forever in my mind.
