AS I HOLD YOUR TENDER BODY

Lay here beside me, quietly,
And allow me to feel the warmth
Of your naked body pressed against mine.
Let the evening sun slip slowly
Behind the enclosing curtain of night,
And I shall hold you tightly
Without noticing it’s passing.
All of my thoughts are centered on you,
For you fill me with happiness
And extend my emotions completely.
Close your lovely eyes and sleep
As you rest your head on my shoulder
And I shall protect you and watch you
Throughout the night and into day.
I hope you feel the comfort and peace
Which I feel here within me now
As I hold your tender body in the night.
