You wrote to me of love,
Kindness, sharing, understanding,
And all of the other things
You claimed I brought
Into your life.
You hardly knew me really,
And yet you were in love with me.
I suppose I was flattered,
And of course surprised,
Yet I was never able
To return the love you gave.
At times I truly wanted to,
But I never really did.
Often now I think of you
As I go back and read those words
You wrote to me of love.
