I want to remember all the times
I held you closely in my arms,
And the times we walked together
In the early morning rain.
I want to remember the love
Which we shared for so long
And the smiles that love brought.
The laughter and the joy,
The happiness of sharing,
The quiet evenings spent together,
All of these I want to remember.
When I remember these things
I’ll remember your face,
And I’ll smile for a while
Until the memories bring the pain
Of the love I’ve now lost,
And on remembering that pain
Perhaps I will find
That it’s better to forget.
